Paul, Diana and I hiked the Cajas National Park which is part of the Andes. The elevation is around 11, 000 ft. So it was easy to get out of breath.
We took a cab from Cuenca to the Park Info Center which is about 45min. Diana negotiated a price discount for $12.
We hiked 3hours. The terrain looks much like Scotland. Even at 12, 000 ft, there is no snow here given the Cajas are at the equator.
We ended up hiking out of the Cajas onto the main road, flagging down a bus and paying $2 back to Cuenca.
