Mar 5: Darwin's Bay

A better picture of Darwin Bay.

I ended up taking a taxi up to the top of the island about 2400ft to a small fresh water lake located inside a volcanic crater. It is the only freshwater lake of consequence in the Galapagos.  For some odd reason it stays full all year. Yet the lake is located at a peak where there is no runoff to gather. The views from there were amazing as I could see all the way around the island. Plus the temperature was much better from up there as an occasional breeze came through.  No trees to speak.  Just grass. It was absolutely beautiful. Of course I forgot my camera.
